What Are the Behenian Stars?

The Behenian Fixed Stars are a group of 15 ancient stars Agrippa identifies as sources of amplified magical virtue. Their name comes from the Arabic bahman meaning “root”—they are considered root stars, each one acting as a gateway to planetary influence.

“They are of the greatest virtue in magic, especially when rightly placed according to their planetary correspondences.” —Agrippa, Book II

Each Behenian star:

• Has a specific sigil

• Corresponds to one or two planets

• Is linked to a precious stone and a sacred herb

• Can be worked with for powerful talismanic magic, spellcasting, or divine vision

How the Behenian Stars Work

These stars act as cosmic amplifiers. When the Moon or a relevant planet is conjunct the star in the sky:

• Magical work done during that time becomes supercharged

• Talismans created then carry immense potency

• Dreams, visions, and invocations made under the star’s power are clearer

Agrippa draws this list from Hermetic and Arabic astrological sources, merging it into his planetary system.
